Sequins and Leopard Skin

Hi everyone ! So, this is going to be a super quick blog - I have a biology midterm and health sciences midterm coming up in the next few days! Anyways, I wore a super simple outfit today to classes, and then I wore my halloween costume to a volunteering halloween event. I'm going to share both with you today.

Basically, all I did today was pair a sequined wool sweater with boyfriend jeans, and some pointed toe leopard flats. I also wore my cream Aldo earrings - yet again. Simple.
Sweater - F21 $27.30

I love these jeans. They are super old from Bluenotes - I believe I only spent $15.00 on them at the time. This picture just shows a little bit more of the detail on them.

Ignoring the ugly carpet in my residence room - I love these flats. These are also from F21 and cost only $19.80! I've seen comparable flats online, and in other stores from $60-$110. These were a steal, and are extremely comfortable.

So, if you haven't already guessed - I am being [and was dressed as] a flapper for halloween. This picture just shows my makeup, minus the red lipstick. I used the L'oreal Infallible Eye liner I mentioned in an earlier blog, and fake eye-lashes, Clinique mascara, and that's about it. My lipstick, which you can see the colour in the picture below - is Rimmel, and is called Diva Red. I find that it is one of the few reds that doesn't turn orange on my skin. It has more blue undertones.

And above is the full ensemble. I wore low, black, kitten heels with it. The only difference is on halloween,  I will be wearing fishnet tights for the halloween dances and parties I'm going to. In a futute blog, I might be posting pictures of an Audrey Hepburn costume that I will most likely use for one of the parties instead of this.

Just as an extra little mention - this dress is so much fun to dance in. I purchased it and the head band at Party City.

Have a great one!

Oh rainy days...

Good morning everyone! I first want to apologize for not writing for the past few days, I've been sick in bed. Thankfully, I am feeling much better. Now, today I was sad to discover that it is raining - yet again. I live in London - in Canada, not England - and it rains constantly. My brother often jokes that its named London because it rains all the time, like London, England.

The sad part is that rain can really ruin an outfit. So I'm posting now, before the rain comes and ruins my hair, clothes, and mood.

Today, I was going for comfort. I just paired some boots, skinny jeans, a long sleeved t-shirt and a scarf with a waist belt.

T-shirt - Mark's Work Warehouse > on sale for $12.99 I believe
Scarf - 2 for 20$ at Ardene's
Jeans - American Eagle > on sale for $19.99
Belt - H&M > $6.95

I couldn't resist the belt. It is made to look like snake skin, its really subtle - but it works. Great price too!

These are one of my favorite boots. From Old Navy 2011, $20 on sale (I think). I also believe that they are on sale this year again, and come in this colour, a chocolate brown, and black. They are so comfy.

And these were my $4.98 deal from Aldo. You've also seen them on here in a cream colour. I love how simple they are.

That's my outfit today. I also want to talk about a new eye-liner that I bought. Its called L'oreal Infallible Laquer Liner. I bought it in Blackest Black. It goes on fantastic, and the brush they give you is actually really good. I would say it was worth the $9.99 I paid for it at Wal-Mart.

Tomorrow, I'm going to post pictures of my thrift store find. So excited about that. And possibly pictures of my little shopping spree. But before I go, my favorite purchase in a while, my new purse. It is perfect for keeping my books and laptop in, or just being a really big slouchy purse. It is fantastic. It was $43.50 at F21 - I splurged a bit. But it is really great. I managed to get the last one in this colour in the store.
Cheers ! I hope your day isn't so rainy!

Basics

Hey there! So, I've been quite sick the past few days, and currently can't sleep because of it. So I thought I'd blog a bit. I wanted to talk about my closet basics, I'm going to post pictures of items I think every girl needs in her closet. These pieces are also things you can spend a little bit more on.

First thing, is the little black dress. Seriously. BUY ONE. Go out, find one that works and go with it. You can dress it down with a jean jacket and cowboy boots, or dress it up with pearls or diamonds.

Clearly, there is no right or wrong little black dress. But I think simplicity is usually key. Don't go for something to over the top. Simple is best because you can pair it with more. I have several little black dresses. You can never have too many, right? And, because she is my style icon, Audrey Hepburn in one of many little black dresses:

Next thing, is a black blazer. They look good with so many things - its incredible. Jeans, skirts, leggings, dresses, you name it. It will go. (A coral coloured blazer is on my wish list right now).

Riding boots. Boots, boots, boots. Simple as that.

Find comfortable boots. Also, look for boots that go up to about mid-calf area. I also think people should stay away from Ugg style boots, they're comfy and they look cute, but they are getting old, and they are so bad for your back, feet, legs, everything. So, try and find nice boots - that will also support you.

Assorted jewelry. My hint for you: when you buy jewelry, try not to throw it out when it goes out of style. STORE IT. Jewelry is the easiest to keep, and it comes in an out of style, and sometimes, you can use it at any time if it is a classic piece. Don't get rid of it, especially if you got a good deal.

Assorted belts, in a variety of colours and shades - make sure you have a few smaller ones for waist belts. And scarves! Lots of scarves. My mother recently brought me back a bunch of scarves from a trip to Paris, and I'm addicted. There are so many ways to wear them - infinity scarves, wrap them around, in a waist belt. I'm constantly seeing pictures on pinterest about 45 ways to tie a scarf. Look it up.

An awesome pair of skinny jeans. Enough said?

A pair of black heels. You can really pick the style of your choice. OR like me have a lot of styles (I have a shoe addiction - in the future, I will share my shoe collection with everyone).

Theres just a few black heel examples. I have a few styles - pumps, kitten heels, peep-toes, maryjanes, stilettos. In addition to black heels, a new must have is nude pumps. They make your legs go on for miles. Find the right shade of nude. You want to closely match it to your skin. It should be about one to two shades darker than your skin, just for contrast.

A boyfriend watch. You've seen a picture of mine in a previous blog. They are really quite timeless, and it's a nice look with pretty much anything. Sunglasses. I love big sunglasses. BIG sunglasses. I look awful in Ray Bans. I also love aviators.

A jean jacket. You can pick a light or dark shade, faded or not faded, distressed or not. Its really up to you. But it can really add something to an outfit, or really dress something down. I love pairing denim jackets with a girly dress and cowboy boots.

A perfect purse. Try to buy a purse that not only functions, but is a neutral colour that will go with EVERYTHING you wear. That way you always have a seamless outfit.

A oversized cable knit sweater, in a cream or beige colour. With leggings, and boots, it is a perfect cozy outfit. I recently bought one similar to the one below, from Value Village for $5.99. Seriously. If you want to find one for cheap, go to a second hand or thrift store, and search in the mens section. They have some great ones if you look. Just make sure you wash it really well, preferably in hot water.

And finally, a leather jacket. I don't have a picture of mine right now for you, but it's awesome from Le Chateau. There are so many styles, just find one that works with your body type. I like a leather jacket that cinches in your waist and makes you look small there. Who doesn't?

Okay, so those are the major things that I think are necessary to put a closet together. Every girl should have them. You can use them to put so many other outfits together. Its impossible to get by without them. And that's all for now!

Happy shopping!

I love Jade

So, today was kind of a blah day. Also, it was lab day! So, my outfit was pretty simple - because I had a chemistry lab, you have to be able to move around. Anyways, I bought this shirt the other day and I'm in love with the colour.

Basically, I just popped the shirt on with some skinny jeans, and my pretty woman boots - which were a great deal. $39.99 at Giant Tiger. They are super comfy, and I can walk all over campus with them. The skinny jeans are from American Eagle, and I got them on sale for $19.99. Great deal. They have a jean sale every year - you can stock up then. The only negative to that was they had no ripped up jeans, so I think I'll buy a plain pair and rip and distress them myself. I can post tutorial pictures about how to do that also.

This picture just shows my makeup. I used Maybelline Gel Liner in Charcoal, and a Sephora trio eyeshadow, and finished with Clinique mascara in Black. I also used a Rimmel lipstick in nude, and a few dabs of a Rimmel lipstick called In Vogue - which is a great pink colour. I also went with my natural length of hair today, which reduces the amount of time I spend on my hair. I got my extensions at Africana Beauty Supply, for $75, and then the clips were $12 I believe. It takes a few hours to sew them on, but you can save $20-40 on the extensions, if you do this yourself. (Just a tip).

Simple bracelet - from F21, $3.99 and the watch - the boyfriend watch, was $15.00 from F21, and then cost $7 to get sized at Sears. It looks much more expensive than it is.

And these are my awesome boots, $40. They can be pulled up more, or have that bunched look - whatever you feel like.

And I bought these earrings at Aldo Accessories, on sale for $4.96. I also bought them in a brownish beige colour, just because they're so simple and neutral. They go with everything.

And that was my simple outfit for the day. Thanks for reading!

Cheers !

Mint and Pink

Hey guys !

Today, I wore my new purchases and some old accessories. I went a little out of my comfort zone with this one, which is interesting that it will be my first outfit post.

I keep seeing mint green skinny jeans and pants everywhere - in stores, on people, on pinterest, and I was intrigued. They made some really cute outfits. So on todays blog, I'm going to share my outfit from today that I wore around campus, and  try and show you some other outfit ideas that make the mint skinnies work, so you can use the trend also.

This one is my personal favorite. I like how simple it is.

This one is also fantastic because its so neutral.

Again, this is a really casual and feminine way to wear them. Both mint and that coral/pale pink, seems to be quite popular in stores right now.

I love this outfit. I want this shirt - this is fun. However, I feel like this is more of a spring or summer wearing outfit.

I've also noticed a lot of girls around campus wearing them with tones of beige, cream, and a dark army green colour. It looks fantastic. Sadly, the weather today was rainy or else I would have snuck some pics.
I also only have a few shots of my outfit, due to weather. But, I did the best I could. And I apologize for the sorry state of my dorm room, I just had a few midterms.

So, I paired my new mint skinnies (which I am telling you, need to be shrunk - if you are buying these, and I'll tell you where and how much lower down, buy a size smaller than you are) with a lace cream coloured top, a pale pink infinity scarf, and some accent accessories.

Earlier in the day, I was wearing a brownish tan pair of riding boots - simply because it has been pouring rain all day. Oh joy. But, if it hadn't been raining I would have worn these awesome shoes, that were a super cheap buy. I love them because they remind me of classic Audrey Hepburn.

This is a close up of the design on the shirt, its actually quite pretty in itself - very feminine. However, I feel with a pair of leather leggings it could take on a whole different look. I liked the mix of colours today. It was a refreshing change.

The jeans, which are really more of a soft fabric (the fabric is actually incredibly soft, they are extremely comfortable - only big made, and they stretch) material are from Forever 21 - I believe they are still available in most stores. They were only $29.30, CAN.

The lace top, was also from Forever 21, and I bought a little cami to go under it from there also. The lace shirt was $23.70, and the cami $3.80. The cami's aren't great quality, but they are cheap, and easily replaced if your just using them for under shirts.

The pink infinity scarf, is also from Forever 21 - and it was $10.80. It also comes in a turquoise/mint colour, that I almost - and still might buy. The necklace, which has been one of my favorite pieces for a long time, is old and also came from Forever 21. I believe at the time it was four or five dollars.

The bracelets from top to bottom: Ten Thousand Villages on Locke Street ($4.99 on sale), the next bracelet was from F21 (I believe $5), and the final bracelet was from a little store in Myrtle Beach ($1).

Finally, the shoes. I get asked about these a lot simply because its a style that is very in this year apparently. I got mine at Wal-Mart. They also came in royal blue, and bright red. I went with a more classic black. But, the best part about them, was that they were only $15. Word of caution - they take a long time to break in, it was painful - but totally worth it.

I think you'll definitely be seeing me mixing and matching pieces from this outfit to create new ones. I'd love to play up the mint pants with a white tee and a black blazer with some black kitten heels. And the lace and leather look might just happen - we shall see.

Tomorrow, I think I'm going to be writing a little bit about pieces I think every girl should have in their wardrobe, and the pieces you should or can spend more money on. Also, later this week I think I'm going to post my first makeup tutorial, I haven't decided whether I will do it in step by step pictures, or a video - opinions would be appreciated. Also, if anyone wants to see a specific tutorial - please let me know!

Thanks for reading !
Happy shopping !

Back from a shopping trip...

Hey there,

I got an idea today to start a fashion blog for fun, and because I am constantly getting comments and compliments about my style, and questions about where I get things, and my uncanny knack at finding insanely good deals. So I'm just going to be blogging about my favorite fashion trends, posting pictures of outfits, and jewelry (which is my obsession these days), giving hints about finding deals (because if your like me, a university student - you can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars keeping up with trends, and you don't have too), and posting make-up tutorials, for all the people who are asking me how I do my makeup.

Your welcome to comment on here if you have questions, and I'm always happy to share where I get good deals. As I mentioned above, unless you've got a thing for designer everything, there is no reason you have to spend a lot of money to look good. Recently, I bought a shirt on sale for nine dollars, and one of my floormates mentioned that she had one similar that she had gotten at American Apparel. When we compared them they were extremely similar, but hers cost $65 dollars. So, theres a clue as to how I can find a good deal. And I'm going to share my deals with you. Unless you have a designer clothes fetish, there is no reason you need to spend a lot of money to look good, and be on trend. Trust me.

So, for my first little post - I'm going to share my jewelry storing solution for in a dorm room. Basically, I bought these $6 picture boards from walmarty, and I hang my earrings off of it, and my necklaces. If my earrings are not dangly, I keep them on the plastic/paper backing that they come on, but spray paint or paint the backing black. And then, for bracelets and funky rings, I have a silver bowl that I keep on my windowsill, which looks really chic.

The cool thing is, it becomes like a piece of art - not just a storage solution. Its nice to show off your pieces.

If you look closely, you'll also notice that I use pushpins to keep my necklaces up. I used purple diamonds, but you can pick a pushpin thats your style.

More to come !
